Technical Queries
General
- How can I support the website?
You can support this website by telling your friends to visit and use us! :D We don't want to be slashdotted, but a little activity comes a long way, especially on a recommendations website such as this one. There are always going to be Draco/Hermione fanpieces that need some loving. You can also support the website by volunteering as a staff member. :)
- Who manages this website?
This website is managed by

vintagebomb. - I don't want my fic/art listed on this website; what can I do?
If you can prove that you are the owner of the fic/art listed, we will be happy to remove the recommendation. However, please note that reviews and ratings will still be left on the website for archiving, and to avoid loss. Please think of the benefits of having your fic/art listed here! :) Free plugging can't go wrong ...
- What can I spend my points on?
You will be able to spend your points on site-related things; and for some site activities, be able to redeem your points for sterling/dollar value (in the form of gift certificates and such). At the moment, a "shop" feature is unavailable, although I am taking suggestions on what can be listed in the shop. (Have one? contact me!)

- How do I change my avatar?
The avatar that is attached to your username (shown in the profile pages and message board) is, in fact, attached to your e-mail. The people who provide the avatar are from a little website called gravatar.com. We encourage users to sign up and attach their e-mail address to an avatar to show individuality. For more information about Gravatars, please click on the link.
- I can only submit three recommendations at a time, when will I be able to submit more?
You will be able to submit more than three when you are an approved member and are able to skip the pending queue.
- What do some of the tagging classifications mean?
The tagging classifications are a means of improving the search feature of the website, making the recommendation looking experience much more better. Depending on the category the recommendation is submitted to (i.e. fic or art), we ask for ratings (whether the material is suitable for children or adults only), status, canon compliancy (in case someone wants to look for something that is compliant up to, say, Goblet of Fire), romance pace, length, and chapter range.
We ask for tags that should be concisely chosen for genres, timelines (for something that takes place on a specific timeline), warnings, Hermione/Draco characteristics (e.g. "witty", "Veela"), side pairings, medium (to find specific types of art), and themes (the theme of the rec or anything relevant).
- What's the difference between the ratings, and lengths? (For fanfiction)
Please submit the correct ratings and lengths! This is super important, because (a) incorrect tagging is icky and (b) it messes up the search feature.
Ratings
We use the fanfiction ratings guide, which might confuse some people. Why not the BBFC, or MPAA rating systems? Unfortunately, we've known people who have had legal issues with using these systems. We think using a fiction rating that is easily applied to other normal rating systems is, in the long run, better, and less hassle. Below is a table detailing the rating system:
K (Universal) The recommendation in question is suitable for everyone, regardless of age. This should also stay clear of any controversy. K+ (Children) This recommendation is suitable for adolescents. T (Teenagers) This recommendation should be viewed only be teenagers or older. M (Young Adults) This recommendation is only appropriate for young adults. MA (Adults) This recommendation is for adults only. This may contain explicit material and/or content. Please rate properly! You will notice that there are no ages attached to those ratings. We believe that you should be able to make judgement based on the given rating (if given) by the author or artist — it's not rocket science. ;)
Length
The length of a fanfiction is important, and is, unfortunately, the many places where people slip up. The titles are self-explanatory, but we understand that sometimes distinguishing a fic between each isn't as such. Below is a table with, hopefully, a detailed explanation of what one is, and what you should submit under.
Drabble A drabble is something that is 100 words exactly. Anything above 100 words is not a drabble and should not be classified as such; they are ficlets. Drabble Series A drabble series are for people who want to rec and entire drabble series as one recommendation, rather than each separate one. Novel Length These should be over 8000+ words. Novella Novellas are less than novel lengths. We recommend a word count of less than 8000. One Shot One shots are, quite simply, one shots. They are not novel length. As the title suggests, they should generally span one chapter, although we do realise that some archives sometimes do not allow word counts over a certain limit which may prohibit one shots from being posted as one chapter. Part of Series For reccing deleted scenes and such. They are part of a series of a story. :) Ficlet The in-between length of drabble and one shot. These are over 100 words, but are not properly fleshed out stories. - If all the recs are — pretty much — getting 100% ratings, how is that an accurate representation?
We realise that if you're going to rec, then the fanwork is usually going to get a high rating. We can't do much about that, but the star ratings and super ratings only display recommendations with more than one vote. Otherwise, we can only encourage people to vote more, and to the less-voted recs in particular.

Technical Queries
- I cannot post on the message board. What happened?
There is a flood limit of sixty seconds (one minute) before you can post again. If you are recieving this error outside the minute flood limit, please contact the administrator using the contact form.
- What is accioDHR! code?
accioDHR! code is like bbCode but personalised to meet our needs. The parser has been coded to match only the codes shown on the code help page.
- Some images have a blue background/icky border ... why is this?
This is an issue with PNG alpha-transparency. As far as I'm aware, this issue only occurs with old browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer 6). I can only suggest upgrading/changing your browser (i.e. Firefox). If you are in a position where you cannot do this, and the images begin to get bothersome, complain about it, and I'll bump it up the to-do list queue. ;)
- I get an error when using the contact form, how come?
The contact form uses a series of preventative spam measures. If you receive an error related to the spam measures, then there, unfortunately, is nothing we can do. I can only suggest using the private messaging feature, or e-mailing
.
